Veterinarian Opportunity | Vets of Geelong

Build Your Career with a Team That Wants You to Thrive

Vets of Geelong is continuing to grow, and with the upcoming opening of our fourth clinic, East Geelong, we’re excited to welcome another veterinarian to our team.

While this opportunity may not necessarily be based at East Geelong itself, being part of a four-clinic network gives our veterinarians access to an incredibly varied caseload, strong collaboration across clinics, and genuine opportunities to shape the direction of their career.

We’re looking for a veterinarian with 2+ years’ experience who enjoys high-quality medicine, values teamwork, and wants to work in a clinic group where culture genuinely matters.

Why Vets of Geelong?

We’re a family-owned and operated veterinary group with clinics across Highton, Geelong West, Lara, and soon East Geelong. Our clinics are well-established within the community and supported by experienced veterinarians with varied interests and special interests, highly capable nurses, dedicated reception and administration teams, and approachable leadership who understand the realities of clinical practice.

Our team environment is built around support, collaboration, and sustainability. We know great veterinary medicine only happens when people feel supported, valued, and trusted.

What Makes This Role Different?

Variety Without Chaos

With four clinics and a large, diverse client base, you’ll see an interesting and rewarding caseload without feeling isolated or unsupported.

Our weekends, in particular, offer an exciting and rewarding pace of medicine, especially Sundays at Highton, where our vets often enjoy managing more complex and urgent cases in a genuine emergency-style environment while still maintaining continuity of care with their own patients and clients.

For veterinarians wanting to continue developing surgically, there are opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and exposure to a varied surgical caseload across the clinic group.

A Workplace You’ll Actually Enjoy Being In

All of our clinics are modern, high-end fit-outs designed to create a genuinely enjoyable working environment for both clients and staff.

As you’ll no doubt see across our social media platforms, we’ve invested heavily in creating clinics that feel open, bright, modern, and welcoming. From consult rooms to surgical suites and dental areas, our spaces are designed to feel professional, calm, and enjoyable to work in.

We don’t believe veterinary teams should spend their days working in dark, cramped, outdated clinic environments. The entire experience, from the moment clients walk through the door to the environment our teams work within each day, is designed to make people feel good about where they work and the care they provide.

Supported Team Environment

You’ll work alongside experienced veterinarians, highly capable nurses, dedicated reception and administration support teams, and a collaborative leadership group that genuinely enjoys mentoring and case discussion.

We strongly believe people perform best when they’re supported by the right team around them. Our reception and administration teams help keep workflows moving and communication organised, allowing our veterinarians and nurses to focus on what they do best: patient care, client relationships, and high-quality veterinary medicine.

While there may occasionally be periods where a veterinarian is consulting independently within a clinic, our teams remain closely connected across all sites, with strong internal communication and experienced veterinary support always available when needed.

Whether you’re continuing to build confidence in certain areas or already bringing strong experience and interests of your own, we aim to create an environment where veterinarians feel supported, challenged, and valued.

Built to Support Great Veterinary Work

We’ve worked hard to build clinics that are well-equipped, well-supported, and designed to help our team work efficiently and sustainably.

Across our clinics, you’ll have access to:

  • Digital radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • Endoscopy
  • Full in-house IDEXX laboratory equipment
  • VetScan diagnostics
  • iM3 dental equipment and digital dental imaging
  • Modern anaesthetic monitoring equipment
  • Tonometry and advanced diagnostic tools

Our nurses are highly utilised and experienced in supporting veterinarians across varying experience levels, from newer graduates through to highly experienced clinicians.

We also prioritise sustainable workflows, including 20-minute consult appointments and dedicated team members who actively help manage appointment flow and workload distribution throughout the day.

Importantly, we have a strong uptake of pet insurance across our client base, which allows our veterinarians to focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for patients without financial limitations becoming the primary barrier to care in many situations.

Our veterinary team is also supported through a collaborative internal WhatsApp network where vets regularly discuss cases, ask questions, and support one another throughout the day.

In addition, we’ve developed our own in-house Standards of Care mobile app, giving our team easy access to clinical protocols, workflows, and guidance whenever needed.

To further reduce administrative stress and improve workflow efficiency, we also utilise AI-assisted note taking within consults, helping our veterinarians spend more time focused on patients and clients rather than excessive paperwork.

While we value efficiency and strong systems, our focus remains on sustainable, high-quality veterinary care rather than rushed production-line medicine.

A Team That’s Genuinely Valued

We believe great people deserve to be well looked after.

Our full-time veterinarians typically work approximately four shifts per week, with no after-hours requirements, supported by the presence of dedicated emergency clinics within Geelong.

Clinic opening hours are:

  • Highton: Monday to Friday 8am-7pm, Saturday 8am-4pm, Sunday 10am-4pm
  • Lara, Geelong West and East Geelong: Monday to Friday 9am-7pm, Saturday 9am-4pm, closed Sundays

Along with a competitive salary package starting from approximately $100,000 plus superannuation depending on experience, our veterinarians are supported with monthly bonus opportunities linked to individual performance. We believe when people put in the hard yards, contribute positively to the clinic, and consistently deliver great care and service, that effort should be recognised and rewarded.

We also take a flexible, trust-based approach to continuing education. Rather than restricting CPD to a once-a-year allowance model, we incorporate CPD support throughout the year as part of our remuneration structure, giving our vets the flexibility to pursue learning opportunities as they arise.

Importantly, we don’t believe in heavily controlling what our vets choose to study. Whether your interests are in surgery, medicine, imaging, dentistry, behaviour, emergency work, or another area entirely, we encourage our team to explore the areas they’re genuinely passionate about and build a career that excites them.

We also recognise the importance of mental wellbeing within the profession and provide access to employee assistance and wellbeing support services for our team.

Progressive Clinics with an Exciting Future

Our clinics are continually evolving, including the exciting launch of our brand-new East Geelong clinic.

We’re progressive in our thinking, committed to high clinical standards, and focused on building systems and workflows that allow our teams to enjoy veterinary medicine while still delivering exceptional patient care.

Living in Geelong

Geelong offers the benefits of a growing regional city without the stress of Melbourne living. With beaches, wineries, great cafés, excellent schools, and easy access to Melbourne, it’s an incredible place to build both a career and lifestyle.
