Which class is best suited to your dog or puppy?

At Vets of Geelong, we offer a range of training programs designed to support your dog’s development at every stage. From early socialization to advanced obedience, our classes are tailored to meet the unique needs of your furry friend. 

Our puppy and dog school offers essential training and socialisation classes to help your new furry family member or mature dog develop good behaviours and become a well-adjusted companion.

All classes are conducted by our experienced trainer, Lisa, who brings over 36 years of dog training expertise.

Baby Puppy (8–12 weeks)

A fun, supportive start to build confidence, social skills and good habits. Run by our trainer Lisa using positive reinforcement and gentle handling. A 6-week  Family-friendly course.

You’ll learn:

  • Name + coming when called (even with distractions)

  • No jumping up

  • Sit / drop / stand

  • Stay / wait

  • Lead walking basics

  • Calm greetings with people + other dogs

  • Simple tricks + confidence-building experiences

Junior Puppy (12–20 weeks)

For slightly older puppies to build on early training with socialisation and basic obedience in a positive environment. A 6-week  Family-friendly course.

You’ll learn:

  • Name + recall under distraction

  • No jumping up

  • Sit / drop / stand

  • Stay / wait

  • Lead walking basics

  • Appropriate play + greetings

  • Simple tricks + real-world confidence

Adolescent (5–12 months)

For that “teenage” stage—focus on real-life manners, clearer communication, and calm behaviour out and about.
8 weekly classes | 45 min | small groups (usually 5 dogs)
Not suitable for reactive/aggressive dogs.

Training includes:

  • Connection + focus around distractions

  • Recall under distraction

  • Loose lead walking (real-world settings)

  • Sit / drop / stand (incl. hand signals)

  • Stay / wait

  • Mat training

  • Tricks to support learning
    Take-home lesson plan provided each week.

Canine Academy (8 months+)

Skill-focused classes you can book individually or as a short block. Each session targets one specific skill area.
6 weekly classes | 45 min | small groups (usually 4 dogs)
Not suitable for reactive/aggressive dogs.

Common skills covered:

  • Connection + focus

  • Name response + recall under distraction

  • Loose lead walking

  • Sit / drop / stand

  • Stay / wait

  • Tricks to build engagement

One-on-One Behaviour Training (by appointment)

Personalised sessions for dogs with more complex needs.
60–90 minutes per session | in-clinic | may require multiple sessions
You’ll receive a tailored plan and written summary to guide training at home.
Some clients may be able to claim via pet insurance (policy dependent).
