Vets of Geelong | Geelong, Victoria
Full-Time or Part-Time | Highton • Geelong West • Lara • East Geelong
Great Nursing. Great People. A Team That Values Your Contribution.
At Vets of Geelong, we believe great veterinary nursing is fundamental to delivering excellent patient care.
We’re looking for experienced veterinary nurses who enjoy hands-on clinical work, take pride in their skills and want to be part of a supportive, professional team.
You might love surgical nursing and anaesthesia. Perhaps you particularly enjoy hospital patient care, diagnostic procedures or the variety that comes with working in a busy veterinary practice.
Whatever your clinical interests, we want you to have the opportunity to use your experience, continue developing your skills and feel genuinely valued for the contribution you make.
We’re a proudly family-owned veterinary group with four clinics across Highton, Geelong West, Lara and East Geelong.
We’re large enough to offer interesting cases, modern facilities and opportunities for professional development, but small enough to know our people.
A Clinical Nursing Role Where Your Skills Matter
This is a hands-on veterinary nursing position for someone who enjoys being actively involved in patient care.
Depending on your experience, interests and the needs of your clinic, your responsibilities may include:
- Surgical preparation, theatre nursing and patient recovery
- Anaesthetic monitoring and perioperative patient care
- Hospital nursing and monitoring of medical and surgical patients
- Assisting veterinarians with diagnostic procedures and treatments
- Collecting and processing laboratory samples
- Supporting diagnostic imaging and other clinical procedures
- Recognising changes in patient condition and escalating concerns appropriately
- Communicating with clients about patient care and treatment
- Supporting colleagues and contributing to efficient clinical workflows
We value nurses who take initiative, anticipate what needs to be done and use their clinical judgement appropriately.
Your experience matters, and we want you to have the opportunity to use it.
Modern Facilities and Interesting Cases
Across our four clinics, we’ve invested in facilities and equipment that support high-quality veterinary medicine and nursing care.
Our clinical resources include:
- Digital X-ray and diagnostic ultrasound
- Digital dental radiography and iM3 dental equipment
- In-house IDEXX and VetScan laboratory diagnostics
- Modern anaesthetic monitoring and surgical equipment
- Hospitalisation and patient monitoring facilities
- A varied medical, surgical and general practice caseload
You’ll work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled veterinary nurses and established support teams.
We also have our own Vets of Geelong Standards of Care, supported by a dedicated clinical app, helping our teams maintain consistent clinical standards and access practical information when needed.
A Team Built on Kindness, Trust and Teamwork
Our three core values are simple:
Kindness. Trust. Teamwork.
These values influence how we care for our patients, communicate with clients and support one another.
We want our nurses to feel respected, supported and proud of their contribution to the team.
At the same time, we value accountability, initiative, reliability and a commitment to maintaining excellent clinical standards.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team where people work hard, help each other and take pride in providing quality veterinary care.
Who We’re Looking For
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or a recognised equivalent qualification
- Approximately three or more years of veterinary nursing experience
- Demonstrated confidence in surgical nursing and anaesthetic monitoring
- Strong hospital patient care and general nursing capabilities
- Good clinical judgement and the ability to recognise and escalate concerns
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work independently within your scope while collaborating effectively with veterinarians and colleagues
- A compassionate, professional and team-focused approach
- Experience in emergency presentations or more complex nursing cases would be an advantage
We’re interested in your clinical capability and experience, not simply how many years you’ve worked.
This is a hands-on clinical nursing position. You don’t need to be looking for a management role to continue developing professionally.
Remuneration and Working Arrangements
We welcome applications from nurses seeking full-time or part-time employment.
Your primary clinic will be discussed based on your experience, preferences and our operational requirements.
We aim to provide rosters planned in advance, with a reasonable balance of weekday and weekend shifts and opportunities for consecutive days off where operationally possible.
We recognise that experienced nurses bring different professional and personal priorities, and we’re happy to discuss working arrangements that suit both the individual and the clinic.
Remuneration is negotiable and will reflect your experience, clinical skills and demonstrated capabilities, particularly in surgery, anaesthesia and hospital patient care.

Most importantly, we want you to feel that your experience and contribution genuinely matter.
